Enhancing user experience for dementia patients: A minimalistic remote and customizable website solution
This project aims to develop a minimalist remote control and customizable website designed to improve the user experience for those with dementia.
Aiming to minimize confusion and frustration with a website that allows caretakers to limit access to unfamiliar channels and content. The project requirements were based on input from Dr. Cindy Graham and validated through interviews with nursing home volunteers.
For the 55 million dementia patients around the world, TV is more than just entertainment
Watching television helps keep the brain active, stimulating positive memories, improve the mood, and increase socialization.
Our team has recognized two main problems with the standard TV remote for those with dementia:
Current TV remotes in the market look to be complex with numerous buttons, making it challenging for patients to toggle the volume and change channels.
Our goal is to simplify the design, keeping only the essential functionality needed.
The current dementia technology solutions in the market suffer from poor design and low quality.
We aim to create an ergonomic design that's durable for its purpose while maintaining a high quality for use.
Our mission is to develop a high-quality, user-friendly TV remote that addresses these critical issues faced by those with dementia, enhancing their quality of life and connection to the world.
We seek to design a remote that's simple and familiar, works with any TV setup, easily customizable, ergonomic and long-lasting.
Simple: Keeping the design simple and straightforward for easy use
Ergonomic: Shaped to accomodate for easy usage without straining the wrist
